It was announced in May that the singer had been diagnosed with throat cancer in the United States.

The terrible news of his death was announced on the internet in the early hours of Sunday, July 11th , 2021.
Dr. Kayode Fasasi, a member of his family, confimed his death in a statement.
“He passed away at the age of 44, following hard fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma.
“He is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings.
“We his family will appreciate utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss.”
