Who would have known that planning for a wedding is so tough and time-consuming? It all seemed very easy – after all, it only takes one “yes” to get here – but now that it’s time to start preparing, I’ve realized that it’s a difficult task and an organizational nightmare! Still, I wouldn’t even think about taking it back. That being said, here are some of the important things I still have to do, to have the perfect wedding!
First Things First
Many people think that picking the dress is the first thing you should do since it’s one of the main focuses. But I’ve come to realize that choosing the right location is a more important step and should come first! The venue sets the stage for the entire event, influencing the aesthetics and ambiance. For my own wedding, I want to break away from the traditional take on it like chapels and beaches. My heart is set on a more modern setting; someplace large, with big white walls and lots of windows for letting in natural light. I envision a place where the architecture and design would create a stunning and unforgettable experience for us and our guests.
Saying Yes to the Dress
The modernity and simplicity of the venue inspire me to look for a gown that mirrors these qualities – something sophisticated yet understated, with clean lines and silhouette. I envision a dress that harmonizes with the architectural beauty of our venue, one that reflects the light and openness of the space. This pursuit has led me to explore designs that are a departure from traditional bridal gowns, steering towards a more avant-garde and minimalist aesthetic.
The goal is to find a dress that feels both timeless and forward-thinking, much like the venue itself. The perfect dress, I believe, will not only make me feel beautiful but will also feel cohesive with the overall theme and setting of our wedding.
Facial Rejuvenation to Stay Youthful
As the big day approaches, I’ve started to focus more earnestly on facial rejuvenation. It’s become essential for me to ensure my skin looks bright, healthy, and youthful, especially since there will be lots of photographs being taken! Knowing this, I want to feel confident and radiant in my skin.
To achieve this, I’ve adopted a more rigorous skincare routine, making sure to include products that are rich in ingredients like hyaluronic acid, retinol, and vitamin C. These ingredients are known for their anti-aging and brightening properties.
Beyond home skincare, I’ve decided to explore professional treatments that offer more intensive rejuvenation, such as laser skin resurfacing and microdermabrasion. Certain treatments are meant to stimulate collagen, which helps to strengthen and rejuvenate the skin! By taking these steps now, I’m ensuring that my skin will not only look its best for the wedding but also maintain its health and vitality in the years to follow.
Handcrafting the Guest List
It seems like a straightforward process to the uninitiated, but it turned out that making a guest list is more challenging than it initially appeared! For example, it’s important to know about drama between family members and appropriately reserve the right seats for them to be apart from each other. It’s kind of like Tetris, making sure all the pieces fit perfectly!
We want our wedding to be an intimate and meaningful celebration, so it’s important to us that we share it with people who genuinely matter in our lives, not just family. So far, we’ve spent a couple of evenings just going over our list. The goal is to consider a person and create an atmosphere where our guests will not only witness our commitment to each other but also feel like a cherished part of our journey together.

Just writing this blog has sparked my memory of other preparations that I have to make! The journey of wedding preparation extends far beyond what I had ever imagined.
So far, we’ve decided on the flavor of the cake, but not its style. Is it to be a small, simple cake or a tall, elegant one? Even a detail as small as this can turn into a lengthy discussion because when it comes to something as important as a wedding, the details can’t be “acceptable” – they have to be “perfect.” Now that I’m thinking of it, it might have been simpler to just hire a wedding planner. Oh well, we’re already this far in!
