Bilal Issifou is a famous Togolese entrepreneur and businessman living in the United States. At the age of 22, he made history by becoming the first young entrepreneur to sign with the equipment manufacturer Nike.

Born in Lomé, Issifou left his homeland with his parents at the age of 5 to settle in the United States where he grew up.

Passionate about the field of entrepreneurship, the young man has done everything in his power to realize his dream.

Bilal’s love for his work comes from his father who was an inspiring role model for him. The young man refused to work for large corporations to create his own company called Unchained Inc. This startup was born in 2020 and allows students and graduates to find internships and employment at every level.

The company has been successful after its launch with a total of thousands of users and thousands of downloads. Bilal is becoming a success story for the youth. A few months ago, the young man signed a partnership with Nike along with other prodigies from various American universities.

In the dynamic world of entrepreneurship, success stories often emerge from unexpected corners of the globe. One such inspiring tale is that of Bilal Issifou, a young Togolese entrepreneur who has captured global attention by signing a remarkable partnership with none other than sportswear giant Nike. This unprecedented feat not only highlights Issifou’s determination and innovative spirit but also brings to light the immense potential that lies within Africa’s burgeoning entrepreneurial landscape.

Hailing from Togo, a West African nation known for its rich cultural heritage, Bilal Issifou’s journey to entrepreneurship and his subsequent deal with Nike is a testament to the power of perseverance and vision. Born in a modest background, Issifou’s early life was characterized by challenges that many would find insurmountable. Yet, his unwavering determination and a passion for sports laid the foundation for a journey that would ultimately redefine his life’s trajectory.

Issifou’s story took a significant turn when he recognized a gap in the market for high-quality, locally-produced sportswear in Togo and neighboring regions. Armed with an idea that combined his love for sports and his desire to contribute to his community’s development, he embarked on the path of entrepreneurship. In 2017, he founded his own sportswear brand, “AfroSwag,” with a mission to provide athletes with performance-enhancing apparel while also celebrating Africa’s unique cultural identity.

What sets AfroSwag apart from other sportswear brands is its commitment to incorporating African motifs, colors, and designs into its products. While many international brands cater to a global market, Issifou’s brand resonates deeply with the African youth, who take pride in wearing sportswear that reflects their heritage. This strategic blend of performance and cultural symbolism soon caught the attention of athletes and consumers alike, leading to AfroSwag’s rapid rise in popularity.

Issifou’s journey took an extraordinary leap forward when he caught the eye of Nike, the industry’s behemoth. In a landmark move, Nike recognized the potential of AfroSwag and its founder, leading to a groundbreaking partnership agreement. This move not only highlights Nike’s commitment to fostering innovation and diversity but also showcases the immense talent and untapped opportunities present within Africa’s business landscape.

The partnership between Issifou’s AfroSwag and Nike has the potential to be a game-changer for both brands. For AfroSwag, the association with a global giant like Nike brings increased visibility, access to resources, and the credibility to expand its market reach beyond Africa. For Nike, the collaboration opens doors to fresh creative perspectives and innovative design inspirations rooted in Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

Beyond the realms of business, Bilal Issifou’s journey is also an embodiment of the transformative impact that entrepreneurship can have on communities and economies. By starting and successfully scaling his venture, Issifou has not only provided local employment opportunities but also inspired a new generation of Togole.
